Shinto Vector by Mages64Mages64 submitted a lovely example of digital artwork that was too good to pass up. Not only did he respond well to the critique, but he also went the extra mile and updated the piece. Unfortunately I do not have an example of what the piece looked like before he updated it.

Wow, this is a really hip piece, and very designy. I’ve been hoping to see something like this all day. The repeating patterns both unify and abstract the shrine, making it very visually interesting to look at. I also like that if you look closely at the planks and beams, they have little irregularities to them. The composition is well balanced for the Shinto Vector by Mages64

AlpharesAs indicated below, Alphareswas the first lucky Deviant to be critiqued with this account. I am not sure what his artistic stance is, but he has a lot of detailed animal and anthropomorphic drawings in his gallery that he has put a great deal of work into. He also seems to enjoy concept work and creating original characters.

Statement and GuidelinesMotivation & Mission Statement
Despite DeviantArt being one of the most popular online art communities, it has very little to offer the aspiring artist. Rather than being a community of artists that share and discuss their work, it has become a glorified photo gallery, and fall-back website for those who do not have portfolio websites of their own. The majority of the DA community being unfamiliar, or downright hostile towards critique is both ridiculous as well as worrisome, and should be addressed as soon a possible.

I'm pleased with how many deviants have reacted positively to being critiqued, as well as the deviants who have actively requested critiques in comments and notes. For all those people both on and off of DA that support this, thank you very much, I appreciate it greatly.

This is awesome, and you have my full support. I would usually ask that you critique my stuff, but considering I only have one picture and it's a crappy one at that, I think I'll leave that prospect alone.
But, what you're doing, keep it up.
